Rogue artist workshops, what the heck are they? I have labeled the workshops hosted at Studio T, otherwise known as Tim ONeill Studio, as rogue artist workshops or RAW because I totally identify with current definitions of being a rogue artist. What does that mean, exactly? In most circles being a rogue artist means making art for art sake as opposed to making art for money. That does not mean one doesn’t need to pay the bills, I love free enterprise and capitalism. I am big on supporting local business, not so much for supporting large corporate entities. So, a defining characteristic for me is that I would make art even if I didn’t sell anything. Ha, for many years that was the case. Sometimes now even the cacophony of sound reverberating from the stampede clamoring to purchase a piece of my art is more like…..crickets. But it is okay, I still create because that is who I am.
In RAW workshops the focus is on play and failure. Yep, failure. I believe you have to fail and you will fail when you are learning. It is through the failures that we learn. The experience of playing with paint, or clay, or whatever medium we are working with is what we are after, NOT a product. So, what kind of workshops will we host? Great question, they change. Sometimes they are repeated, sometimes not. You can see upcoming workshops below. If you have questions please reach out to TO, that’s me, Tim ONeill. Hit me up using our contact form and I will get back to you usually pretty quickly.
Currently we have two types of workshops, BOHO Artapalooza and BOHO Atelier Intensives. BOHO online is in the works as I update some of my online course offerings. The artapalooza is a short 2-3 hour introductory workshop, think paint party. The BOHO Atelier Intensive is a deeper dive into specific media, usually a weekend workshop, these are workshops for peeps really interested in a specific topic. BOHO atelier intensives are typically made up of other artists while BOHO Artapalooza is for artists and those who don’t consider themselves artist. Artapalooza has been kiddo’s birthday parties and it has been Girls night out with adult BYOB adult beverages consumed during the painting process as well as many things in between.
